About Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio was born on November 11, 1974, in Los Angeles, California. He first began as a child actor on several commercials and educational films. His first series was a short-lived role called Parenthood in 1990. He had several small guest-starring roles in television shows before getting his break in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape. The role earned him a National Board of Review Award and his first Oscar nomination. He later co-starred in Total Eclipse alongside David Thewlis before being cast in the modern retelling film Romeo + Juliet in 1996.

DiCaprio famously starred in Titanic in 1997, which turned DiCaprio into a worldwide superstar. He later starred in The Man in the Iron Mask. He had a streak of successful films in the 2000s, starting with Catch Me If You Can, Gangs of New York, The Aviator, Blood Diamond and The Departed, all of which netted him critical acclaim and several awards. He starred in the thriller Shutter Island before starring in Django Unchained. DiCaprio later worked on The Great Gatsby, The Wolf of Wall Street and earned his first Academy Award win after many nominations for his role in The Revenant.
